Role of literature and trends of development of the world book publishing are discussed in Ashgabat

XIII International Book Fair and exhibition and conference “Book – the Way of Cooperation and Progress” started work in the exhibition centre of the Trade and Industrial Chamber.

Members of the Government, heads of the Mejlis, ministries and departments, public organizations, diplomatic missions and representative offices of international organizations accredited in Turkmenistan, scientific and cultural personnel, specialists of publishing sphere, students, mass media as well as numerous participants of profile review took part in the opening ceremony.

Representatives of publishing houses and companies, business and literature circles, scientific and educational centres, famous authors, scientists, translators, specialists of libraries, information technologies, journalists from 16 countries including from Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, the Republic of Korea, Moldova, Pakistan, Poland, Russia, United States of America, Turkey, Ukraine and France take part in the forum this year.

Booths of big foreign universities like Moscow Polytechnic University, Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Beijing State University, Boris Grinchenko University of Kiev, Istanbul University are opened at the Exhibition and Fair.

Ministries and departments, universities and scientific institutes, libraries and museums, public organizations are among 58 national exhibitors. Both big government enterprises and private publishing houses, which present vast collection of various printing production, demonstrate significant potential of publishing industry of the country.

Original decorated exhibition halls introduce novelties of book and printing production, innovations in book printing and library spheres. It also has booths of producers of various printing equipment and auxiliary materials. The exhibition has grounds for presentations, meetings and business talks.

The exposition ground of the exhibition and fair demonstrates bright book novelties, illustrated albums, study books, works of classic Turkmen and world literature, magazines, bright booklets and postcards.

The exhibition presents archive periodic materials, copies of manuscripts of Turkmen classics as well as works of outstanding national scientists and thinkers published these days.

Being a universal method of popularization of achievements of Turkmenistan, its rich history and culture, the books, which are published in the country, receive high appraisals at prestige profile forums.

Special place at the exhibition is allocated to the works of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Works of Turkmen leader reflect versatility and reveal deep layers of national culture and traditions, highlight the achievements of modern Turkmenistan.

All the variety of scientific, children, fiction literature, art and history books as well as study guides and photo albums are presented at the displays of government structures and scientific and educational centres, publishing houses and trade facilities from many countries.

Russian publishers like “Epocha”, “Gungut”, “Absolute”, “Monoritm”, Bichik”, “LocoTech Signal LLC” “Art Project” and other demonstrate their production in Turkmen capital. Display of Turkmenistan International magazine, which highlights important events in life of the country and introducing richest historical and cultural heritage of Turkmen people to readers, raise keen interest of the visitors.

Book Chambers of participating countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States, where 2019 was announced as the Year of Book, placed their booths at the exhibition.

Potential of printing industry is demonstrated by private companies. Biggest manufacturer of printing equipment and technologies Heidelberg is among permanent participant of the exhibition.

The book forum supports the growth of interest to books and to book publishing , receiving information about innovations and exchange of practice. These subjects were in the centre of attention of the participants of scientific conference “Book – the Way of Cooperation and Progress” in the afternoon, which united representatives of publishing media, universities, libraries, specialists in the sphere of printing production, authors and journalists in the conference hall of the Trade and Industrial Chamber.

The participants of the meeting familiarized with achievements of the world book publishing sphere, aspects of digitisation of informational environment.

Establishment of close partnership between profile structures including in training of specialists of publishing and library spheres, translation activity were discussed at the meeting.

Round table session dedicated to the theme “Implementation of new technologies and digital system to publishing industry” as well as thematic evening in Inspiration Park of the capital were organized under the forum.

Series of professional events, which are traditionally held under the exhibition, would be continued until November 6.

The 11th volume of encyclopaedic work of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov “Medical Plants of Turkmenistan” would be presented to the guests. “Role of Book in careful protection and propaganda of ancient values of nations” and “In the World of Art” meetings are planned on the same day.

Master classes will be held in the universities. Training of specialists in the sphere of book design will be reviewed in the State Art Academy.

Writers and poets from different countries will discuss current directions of development of art for children and will familiarize with children books published by Turkmen State Publishing Service in different languages during event “Journey to the World of Fairy Tales”.

The meeting in Turkmen State Institute of Culture will be dedicated to the history of book printing and library activity.

Award of diplomas t the participants as well as to the winners of the contests held under the forum will be held during official closing ceremony of XIII International Book Exhibition and Fair and conference “Book – the Way of Cooperation and Progress” on November 6.
