The strategy of realization of Turkmenistan’s initiatives uttered at the CIS Summit is targeted

As is known, the decision on co-chairmanship of Turkmenistan in the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2018 was taken during the Summit in Sochi. The MFA stipulates the development of the project of special concept for successful fulfilment of this objective. This information was given during the session of the Cabinet of Ministers on October 13. 

Regular session of the Council of foreign ministers of the CIS took place in Sochi on October 10, where according to the adopted document, Turkmenistan has been appointed as Deputy Director of Organization Department of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States. 2018 – 2020 Action Plan for implementation of the Programme of support and development of national sports in the CIS until 2020 has been also adopted at the session. 

Following this, it is planned to hold international competitions in Turkmen national wrestling, to take the measures for establishment of national federation of this sport in the CIS countries, to train the sportsmen and coaches and to organize the trainings and meeting with participation of the Commonwealth members for sharing of the experience and improvement of qualification. 

Based on the initiatives of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on intensification of trade and economic cooperation under the CIS, it is planned together with financial and economic complex of our country to prepare specific proposals for the agenda of the Economic Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States, its structural departments dealing with energy, transport and trade. 

Cooperation in social, cultural and humanitarian spheres is one of the key directions of the CIS activity. By the outcomes of the Summit in Sochi, the Declaration of the Heads of the States on support of family institute and traditional family values was adopted. In this context, the Ministry of Education, Women Association, Magtumguly Youth Organization and other government and public establishments of Turkmenistan are proposed to elaborate the Action Plan for 2018 – 2019 including conduct of different events for introduction of the experience of our country in this sphere to the members of the CIS. 

The importance of the initiative of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the declaration of 2021 as the Year of Architecture and Urban Construction that received comprehensive support of all the Heads of the Commonwealth participating in the Summit in Sochi has been mentioned. For its realization, the MFA of Turkmenistan will develop the drafts of relative documents, which are to be sent to the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States. 

Our country develops traditional wide cooperation with the states of the Commonwealth and with the nations related to us by historical friendship and good-neighbourliness ties. Turkmenistan will continue comprehensively supporting activation of constructive dialog in political and diplomatic spheres, consolidation of beneficial trade and economic relations and cultural and humanitarian ties in the CIS, both on bilateral and multilateral basis, the Head of the State said. 

In this context, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov gave number of relative assignments including for practical realization of the initiatives of our country proposed at the CIS Summit in Sochi as well as solution of organizational issues related to co-chairmanship of Turkmenistan in the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2018 to the Vice Premier.
