THE CITY'S GREEN NECKLACE OF VEGETATION

The local cleaning and landscaping enterprise in Dashoguz has been making every effort to expand the city’s green areas and to plant new trees. In the autumn, its specialists planted young Pyracantha shrubs in the outdoor tree nursery. Ideal for topiary, this evergreen plant is often grown as hedges in urban environments. It is drought tolerant, grows in all soil types, and frost hardy, which makes it capable of withstanding the northern region’s weather conditions. If the Pyracantha shrubs adapt well to the local climatic conditions, they will be notable additions to the city’s greenery in the future.

As part of town and rural planning and development, much attention in Turkmenistan is given to architectural designs and the creation of green spaces with a diverse range of trees and plants. Thanks to the consistent efforts, Dashoguz’s streets, avenues and parks boast today a wide variety of coniferous and ornamental trees - different species of thujas, ash trees, poplars, willows, and mulberries. In some parts of the city, Osage orange trees, oleasters, catalpas and tamarinds can still be found. Local favorites are upright and horizontal-spreading junipers, ornamental barberries, and some other shrubs, which are used to create beautiful landscaping designs.
