STRENTHING STATISTICAL MECHANISMS IN COLLABORATION WITH UNDP

Organizational issues for launching a new joint project on strengthening institutional and technical capacity in the SDG implementation to the State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan were discussed in the framework of an online meeting with representatives of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Turkmenistan.

It should be noted that on the eve of the 25th anniversary of the neutrality of Turkmenistan, the State Committee on Statistics and the representative offices of UN agencies in Turkmenistan signed a package of bilateral documents.

The close and fruitful cooperation established in recent years with international organizations, in accordance with the constructive foreign policy strategy of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, plays an important role in the development of the national statistical system.

The main task of the State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan is to improve statistical methodology in accordance with international standards, which is a prerequisite for conducting comparable comparative analyzes.

Within the framework of the new project, during 2021-2023, it is planned to further strengthen the information and technical potential of our country, to ensure conceptual transition to the 2008 SNA methodology, as well as to increase knowledge in the field of statistical reporting for measuring the SDGs.

Given the importance of the Sustainable Development Goals set out in the global Agenda for the period up to 2030, their achievement is one of the priorities of the policy, pursued by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, aimed at improving the well-being of the people and bringing Turkmenistan to rank among the developed countries of the world.

Also, within the framework of the three-year project, the work on the development and installation of software for the statistical business register will continue.
