The President of Turkmenistan has a meeting with his Tajik colleague

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had a meeting with President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon who arrived in Turkmen capital for participation in the session of the Council of the CIS Heads of the States.

Having exchanged cordial greetings, the heads of friendly states expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to discuss perspective of bilateral cooperation and noted steadfast dynamics of Turkmen – Tajik dialog.

Continuing the meeting, Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Emomali Rahmon discussed priorities of interstate cooperation. At the same time, the necessity of activation of trade and economic partnership has been highlighted.

Cooperation in transport and communication sector, which is provided by favourable geographic location and transit capabilities of two states, was a separate subject of discussion. The sides have also spoken for strengthening of contacts in humanitarian sphere.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged the opinions on number of subjects of regional and international politics, which present mutual interest. In this context, President Emomali Rahmon highlighted that Tajikistan compressively supports constructive foreign policy and creative initiatives of neutral Turkmenistan, which meet the goals of provision of peace, security and prosperity in regional and global scales.

In the end of the meeting, Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Emomali Rahmon expressed confidence that friendship and fruitful cooperation would be successfully developed.
