PRESIDENT OF TURKMENISTAN SIGNS DECREE ON IMPROVEMENT OF SYSTEM OF INTERNAL PASSPORTS IN TURKMENISTAN

In order to improve the procedure for drawing-up and issuing passports to citizens of Turkmenistan, their residence registration, termination of registration, in accordance with the Law "On Migration" and the Law "On internal affairs authority of Turkmenistan", the President of Turkmenistan signed the Decree, authorizing:
1. The internal affairs authority of Turkmenistan to ensure drawing-up and issuing passports to citizens of Turkmenistan, their residence registration, termination of registration.
2. In accordance with the legislation, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan:
1) to register and issue a passport of a citizen of Turkmenistan within seven working days in a solemn atmosphere;
2) to ensure residence registration, termination of registration of the citizens of Turkmenistan;
3) to prepare blank passport and other official documents related to the passport system.
3. The Prosecutor General of Turkmenistan and prosecutors ensure control over compliance with the law when considering the issues of registration, issuance of a passport of a citizen of Turkmenistan to citizens of Turkmenistan, as well as their residence registration, termination of registration.
4. Ministries, sectoral departments, hyakimliks and all other institutions, enterprises and organizations, regardless of their organizational and legal form, should not require various certificates from citizens in the case when the necessary information can be confirmed by a passport of a citizen of Turkmenistan.
5. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan, hyakimliks of the velayats and the city of Ashgabat, together with the Ministry of Adalat of Turkmenistan, should draft proposals on amendments to the legislation of Turkmenistan arising from this Decree and submit them to the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan.
6. The Decree of the President of Turkmenistan No. 3103 "On measures to improve the passport system in Turkmenistan" dated May 4, 2000 (5th collection of acts of the President of Turkmenistan and decisions of the Government of Turkmenistan in 2000, article 245) is declared to be no longer in force.
