AGENDA OF TURKMENISTAN-PAKISTAN INTER-PARLIAMENTARY DIALOGUE IS CONSIDERED

The priority issues of cooperation at the inter-parliamentary level were discussed in frames of the online meeting with Chairman of Senate of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani took place in the Mejlis of Turkmenistan.

Emphasizing the huge potential and favorable prospects for building up effective cooperation, the interlocutors underlined that the Turkmen-Pakistani relations prioritized strengthening contacts at the level of the legislative bodies of the two countries.

In connection with the formation of a qualitatively new bicameral structure of the National Parliament of Turkmenistan, special emphasis was placed on the necessity to share experience, theoretical knowledge and practice of their application in order to strengthen the inter-parliamentary dialogue, which plays an important role in the context of the implementation of the foreign policy strategy of our country.

Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani underlined that the parliaments of Turkmenistan and Pakistan could cooperate to address such pressing problems of our time as the settlement of regional conflicts, the fight against extremism and terrorism, as well as climate change, etc.

The parties discussed the issues of cooperation at international parliamentary platforms, including within the framework of the Inter-Parliamentary Union. It was emphasized that Turkmenistan highly appreciated the fact that Pakistan was one of the first states to recognize the independence of our country and voted to delegate the status of permanent neutrality to it, and today actively supported the international initiatives put forward by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov from the high rostrum of the UN.

The interlocutors agreed to build up relation in order to expand the inter-parliamentary component of Turkmen-Pakistani cooperation.
