Opening of the golf club indicates steadfast expansion of sport infrastructure

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the golf club in Ashgabat, the President of Turkmenistan expressed the confidence that new sport complex is to be popular place for active leisure. 

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has noted that special attention is paid to development of mass physical training, sports and Olympic movement in the policy of the Government. 

Large-scale construction of big sport and equestrian complexes, stadiums, sport schools and sanatoriums meeting international standards is expanded in the country. 

All these measures supports wide implementation of healthy life style, achievement of success in Turkmen sport and recognition of Turkmenistan as sport centre of the world class. 

The Head of the State noted that Turkmen used to compete in chilik, the game resembling the golf, in ancient times. This game trains deftness and reaction, attention and coordination, develops strategic thinking and improves health. 

Widely spread throughout the world, the golf promotes the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, depression and improves sport skills. Years of scientific studies prove positive effect of the golf on increase of human longevity. 

New complex with high-quality golf course built in Ashgabat by international standards is visual evidence of steadfast expansion of sport infrastructure. 

Total area of sport golf complex located on the south of Yuldiz Hotel is 70 hectares. The complex includes administration and operation facilities, 18 courses, 4 artificial ponds and one spring, open and underground parking for 90 vehicles.
