697 Citizens to Be Pardoned on Occasion of International Neutrality Day

On the occasion of International Neutrality Day, President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, signed the Decree on Pardoning Convicted Persons.

Pursuant to the document, 697 citizens of the country will be freed from further serving the basic sentence and additional penalty of being imposed the obligation to reside in a certain locality.

Consequently, the head of state has tasked the Secretary of the State Security Council, Minister of Defence, Ya. Berdiyev, to join efforts with heads of law enforcement authorities to ensure that all pardoned persons return home to their families from places of detention over the next days.

The President of Turkmenistan wished the pardoned citizens to work sincerely and seriously to contribute to the extensive work ongoing in the country.

Governors of provinces, city and district authorities and other relevant officials have been instructed to tackle issues of employment of persons returning from detention facilities.
