Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Vladimir Putin exchange the views on perspectives of Turkmen – Russian dialog

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had a meeting with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin who arrived in Turkmen capital for participation in the session of the Council of the CIS Heads of the States.

Having warmly greeted each other, Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Vladimir Putin confirmed the commitment of the sides to traditional relations of friendship and goodwill and mutual intent to strengthen multidimensional Turkmen – Russian dialog.

The heads of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation stated high level and strategic character of interstate partnership, which is built on the principles of equality, respect and trust.

Having expressed gratitude to President Vladimir Putin for participation in the Ashgabat Summit, Turkmen leader highlighted that cooperation with Russian is one of priority vectors of foreign course of our country.

Having expressed sincere gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan for cordial welcome, the Head of the Russian Federation noted steadfast dynamics of interstate relations, to development of which Russia also pays great attention.

During the meetings, the sides discussed the main directions of Turkmen – Russian partnership. Significant regulatory and legal framework, which is systematically supplemented, indicates the orientation of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation to further long-term cooperation.

In this regard, the presence of multidimensional potential for efficient consolidation of efforts in trade and economic sphere, intensification of productive contacts in various spheres, between business structures, for stimulation of investment activity has been noted. Significant role in this is given to Intergovernmental Commission, Turkmen – Russian and Russian – Turkmen business councils as well as to joint business forums. Cooperation between Turkmenistan and large regions and constituent entities of the Russian Federation has dynamic character.

Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Vladimir Putin have also spoken for further development of traditional cooperation on humanitarian sphere.

The sides exchanged the opinions on number of current subjects of regional and global agenda, having confirmed the commitment of both states to constructive partnership under the UN and other competent international organizations.

Turkmenistan and Russia also look forward the continuation of effective cooperation in Caspian Sea, which has significant potential. In this aspect, the importance and efficiency of the first Caspian Economic Forum initiated by Turkmen leader, which was held in Avaza National tourist zone in August and became an open ground for discussion of priority subjects of regional and interregional partnership, has been highlighted.

Speaking of the agenda of the session of the Council of the CIS Heads of the States, the leaders of two countries expressed confidence that current Summit, which is held chaired by Turkmenistan, would serve to active promotion of equal beneficial cooperation in the Commonwealth and to development of new perspective directions.

In the end of the meeting, Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Vladimir Putin wished strong health and success to each other and wealth and prosperity to the peoples of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation.
